It all began with Java on the Client as Applets but pretty soon there was a stumbling block. Java could not integrate seamlessly into the HTML web pages. There was quite an opportunity, however, on the server for use of Java because of its portability, scalability and robustness. At the same time, enormous work has been done for Java on the client in the past couple of years like better and faster JVM implementations, better Java Plug-ins for browsers and the new Java WebStart Technology.
