Welcome to my JavaTM Technology Album! JavaTM Technology was invented by Sun Microsystems and announced to the computer world in 1995. Visit the Sun's Java Software Web-site to learn more about JavaTM Technology - its history, the current state and its future direction.

In the relatively short span of three years, JavaTM Technology has gathered a momentum unlike any other in the history of computing. JavaTM Technology comprises a pure object-oriented language and a run-time platform (JVM - Java Virtual Machine) that has been engineered for maximum robustness, security and productivity. JVM can be developed on top of any native operating system. Performance is an issue because of the extra layering - however, a lot of work is being done to improve the state of affairs. IBM, with its diverse set of operating systems ranging from the mainframes to the desktops, is one of the biggest supporters of JavaTM Technology outside Sun Microsystems.

Sun Microsystems released JavaTM Technology 1.0 in 1996, JavaTM Technology 1.1 in 1997 & JavaTM Technology 1.2 in 1998. Each was a huge advancement and JavaTM Technology 1.2 looks much like a complete platform and henceforth named also the JavaTM 2 Platform. Sun Microsystems also recently released its next generation JVM, code-named HotSpotTM, that is claimed to have a vastly improved performance. JavaTM 2 Platform has a comprehensive and sophisticated GUI (Graphical User Interface). JavaTM Technology is already making its mark on the server side and is becoming a leading choice for the middle-tier in the emerging new paradigm of 3-tier architecture.

Below is my early, pre-JavaTM 2 Technology work.
